4-6 % of the wax are only contained in crude Shellac and it is obtained as waste product during the manufacture of spirit lacquer and alcoholic solutions of Shellac.Shellac Wax is mainly a mixture of esters (approx. 60 %) and free alcohol (approx. 35 %). Furthermore, small amounts of hydrocarbons, penta- and hentriacontanes and approx. 1 % laccic acid are contained. Polishes which normally consist only of paraffin and montan wax, give a highly shining surface if only a small amount of Shellac Wax is added; moreover as substitute for Candelilla Wax

Additional Information
Shellac Wax is mainly a mixture of esters (approx. 60 %) and free alcohol (approx. 35 %). Furthermore, small amounts of hydrocarbons, penta- and hentriacontanes and approx. 1 % laccic acid are contained. Shellac Wax is the second hardest natural wax after Carnauba Wax and has a melting point range of 77–86 degrees Celsius. It has similar high gloss polishing properties to Carnauba Wax and Candelilla Wax, so is often used in combination with, or as a substitute for these products. The Solvent Process produces a yellow coloured Shellac Wax, while the Bleaching Process generates an ivory white coloured Shellac Wax.
